Pikus Concrete & Construction

The form enables the function in The Learning Garden at Galloway Elementary School in Jackson, Mississippi. In this unique flexible space, children can learn about various subjects, including healthy living and growing their own produce. Additive concrete manufacturing enables this learning experience while also delivering on the narrative of sustainability and minimal environmental impact, as 3D printed concrete requires less natural resources with significantly less impact on the environment than traditional concrete construction or other traditional building materials.

Designed in conjunction with students of the Mississippi State University’s Architecture Program, the organic and unique form of these custom benches fits perfectly into the flow of the space to help spark the children’s imaginations and desire to learn.
